WHAT IS THE WELL?
A community gathering
to cultivate connection, ideas, and action.
In 2022, we launched The Well to bring together a multiracial, intergenerational, cross-sector coalition for change. We affectionately call this community of social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and other social impact leaders "the MIC." In November 2024, we invite you to Step Up to The MIC and lay the groundwork to collectively strengthen our nation as we approach America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Over three days, we will listen, learn, and create brave spaces for honest dialogue with a strong bias for action. And we’ll also make time for joy and celebration.

In order to bring about real, lasting change, we must come together as a MIC to problem solve and co-create. The Well is a place where we can leverage our differences as powerful assets in our work to transform America. Participants, including our esteemed co-designers, represent a wide range of viewpoints and experiences, helping us advance our larger aspirations. The MIC is not about one or the other, it’s about all.

New Profit is a philanthropic organization that supports high-impact social entrepreneurs creating solutions to systemic challenges in America by leveraging their proximity to the genius, assets, and vision of the communities they serve. New Profit exists to build a bridge between these leaders and a community of philanthropists who are committed to partnering and catalyzing their impact. Since its founding in 1998, New Profit has invested over $350M in 250+ organizations and, through the America Forward Coalition’s collective advocacy efforts, has unlocked over $1.9B in government funding for social innovation.

A well is a place where stories are told and community news is shared. At The Well, we will learn from and with each other, generating the intellectual and inspirational fuel to drive greater impact as individuals and as a community.
Relationship Building
A well is a gathering place for diverse and disparate communities to come together. At The Well, we will create intentional and organic opportunities to connect with each other in meaningful, action-oriented ways.
Restorative Activities
A well is a place for replenishment and restoration. At The Well, we will provide spaces and activities focused on our health and wellbeing so we can prepare for the work ahead.
